Basis of design
- Calculations are based on quality standard RAL-GZ 639 and cover the situation with one span and one load acting on the grating. The load can be a point load in the middle of the span or a distributed load.
- Deflections for beam function 'single beam' or 'part of grating' are limited by ulim = L*(1/200). When deflections are greather than 4.0 mm an indication message will appear which will warn for the possible hazard of stumbling ( RAL-GZ 638 par 4 )
- Deflections for beam function 'stairs' is limited by ulim = L*(1/300) with a maximum of 6 mm ( RAL-GZ 638 par 2.2.4 )
- The way the point loads are taken into account vary per selected beam function. When function 'stairs' or 'single beam' is selected the magnitutde of the total point load is used, even when stair tread is smaller than the width of the point load. When beam function 'part of grating' is selected the area of the point load is reduced to the width of the perfoplank while scaling down the point load accordingly. At this moment it is assumed the perfoplanks on the side take up part of the point load.
- When determining the section properties of the perfo plank the bending radi are neglected accroding RAL-GZ 639 annex 1.3
- Horizontal forces are not taken into account.
- The calculations are based on pure bending. This means no imperfections or effects from any misallignments are taken into account.
- The selfweight of the perfoplanks are neglected.
- RAL-GZ 639 does not cover (local) instability checks
